Dunlop Street

The street was probably named after a inspector-General Police of the Straits Settlements in 1875 and his name was Colonel Samuel Dunlop or another individual named A.E. Dunlop, who was a Secretary of Race Course Committee of the Serangoon area. So there is no definite answer on who the street was named after.

However, Dunlop street was called Rangasamy Road before it was renamed in the 1870s. Why was Rangasamy Road renamed to Dunlop street? There was no information on that in the street names of Singapore book by Dunlop P.K.G.
